House tours

The Americans in San Miguel heavily support the Biblioteca Publica financially and through volunteerism.  Consequently, it has the second largest collection of English language books in Mexico.  The library has an internet service, a cafe, and a courtyard where Americans gather to practice their Spanish.  It also sponsors lectures, films, and a tour on Sundays of three local homes.  Last week 211 people went on the tour and each paid $15 USD.  The money that is raised goes to educational materials for outlying schools.

I had planned to attend today's tour, but was inspired to work in the studio instead.  So here are some photos of homes I visited last year.

The first home was decorated with bright, vibrant colors with a casual decor.

The second home was decorated with subtle colors taken from the paintings that the owner collected.

And the third home used an elegantly Continental style.
