Along the Nile

We spent 4 days and nights on the Royal Orchid sailing from Aswan to Luxor.  It was heavenly!  The weather was warm, at times hot in the sun, but always with a refreshing breeze.  The boat was extremely well maintained, the crew was friendly and fun, and the meals were fabulous!  After the hectic pace of Cairo and Aswan, relaxing on the boat was just what we needed.  Here are some pictures of views from the boat.

This was the only industry we passed in our four day cruise.

It was not until we got to Luxor that we encountered resorts.

One of our land excursions was to visit a local market to purchase ingredients for stewed okra which we prepared under the guidance of the ship's chef.

Then one evening there was a galabeya party.  (A galabeya is the long gown that both Egyptian men and women wear.)  Here is Susan dancing away the night!

On another occasion we were entertained by a whirling dervish performance.
