More Aswan
After a couple of days in the hotel in Aswan we relocated to our boat on the Nile. There are two groups, totally 27 people. Each group of either 14 or 13 has their own guide and we do land excursions separately in two buses. The 27 of us are the only ones on the boat! I think the crew out-numbers the passengers. This is our boat, the Royal Orchid.

Our captain.

We are getting our safety instructions.
Our next adventure was to ride camels into the desert to visit the Monastery of Simeon. It was great fun!

That's Susan!

The monastery dates back to the 6th century.
I became intrigued by all the patterns of the shoe treads we made in the sand.

Our next stop was to visit a Nubian village that had been relocated when Lake Nassar was formed. The homes were colorfully decorated both inside and out.

Notice the hand print by the door. Hand prints, made with blood, appear throughout the house to ward off evil spirits.

Egypt is just as interesting as I thought. The camel sit looks interesting. I rode a camel many years ago but I had to ride side saddle not as you did.
