House Tours

Every Sunday the San Miguel Public Library sponsors a house and garden tour of local homes.  It is a way visitors can get a glimpse of the homes beyond the high walls that flank the streets and it also generates funding for the children's educational programs at the library.  This past Sunday Susan and I visited two beautiful and unique homes.

The home that we liked the best was very colorful and full of whimsy!  It was decorated with old furniture and lots of Mexican folk art mingled with contemporary art.  I especially enjoyed all of the great masks the owners had collected.  Not only was the home colorful, but the colors were also expertly arranged.

This is the entrance way.

The outdoor and indoor spaces were beautifully blended.

Notice the neon sculpture below.  There were several placed throughout the home.

Notice how the bright blue of the wall almost matches the color of the sky!

The grounds of the home a large garden, unusual for its location in the heart of the town, and a casita.

And here are some examples of the mix of artwork found throughout the house.

The second house that we visited was designed with a Moroccan flair.  I visited it last year, so for pictures of it go to:
