Last days in India
Yesterday we visited a complex of ancient Hindu temples in Khajuraho. The temples are covered with row after row of relief sculptures depicting Hindu gods as well as people engaged in ordinary daily activities.

The images that get the most attention from visitors are the X-rated depictions of the pleasures of everyday life. Here is one of the milder ones. (Notice the servant covering her eyes.)

Then we flew to Varanasi where we had an evening boat ride on the Ganges. We viewed the cremations taking place along one section of the shore of the river.

The at another location along the river we observed a ritual giving of thanks that is performed every evening by seven Hindu priests. There were lots of bells ringing and the burning of insence.

This morning we left the hotel at 5am to view the sun rising over the Ganges.

We had an opportunity to observed people, some local, but many from all over India, participating in morning prayers with ritual purifications in the water of the river.

This one of many colorfully clad Hindu monks looking for charitable contributions.

All for now. I'll wrap up later.
