The Tuesday Market
There are several daily markets around town but only one weekly market. The Tuesday Market is located in a big field on the edge of town and takes up area of about three to four football fields. Everything imaginable is sold there: produce, meat, dried beans, nuts, candy, herbs, live chickens, clothing, toys, CDs, hardware, plants, kitchen and bath accessories, beauty products (you get the idea,) along with food stalls. To ramble through the market is to experience sensory overload. Tables display an abundance of stuff with a variety of colors, shapes, and textures while light filters though tarps of different colors creating colorful, glowing effects. Then there is the non-stop PA system competing with vendors shouting to get the attention of shoppers - not to mention music blaring in the form of both CD's and live musicians. On top of all that there are the smells of the food cooking, frying and roasting. The aisles are congested with lots of people browsing the wares. In all of this hubbub, I found two small masks to add to my collection.
